The Chaplain's Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

By now we have all heard about the terrible earth quake in Haiti. The number of lives lost is yet unknown, but may be hundreds of thousands. It is at times like these that we wonder why? Why does God allow catastrophes like these?

Sometimes we may start to think maybe that place, or those people, were worse sinners. Maybe God wanted to judge them for their wickedness. But the Bible says God is not willing that any should perish, that is to die without Christ. The Bible says God does not want the wicked to die in their sins.

Read Luke 13:1-5 again and get a better perspective on the situation. In that passage Jesus taught that we should be considering our own spiritual situation; to make sure that we’re right with God. These events should remind us to thank God for His grace in our lives - and cause us to do all we can to extend a helping hand to those who are in such desperate need.

Most of all we can pray. Pray that God’s presence will be felt by those who are suffering. Pray for those who are responding in search, rescue and recovery operations. Pray for the Christians in Haiti that God would use them to minister to their neighbors. And you can pray for the Chaplain as I consider responding to that situation.

Amen Chaplain... Amen.

xtnyoda, shalomed
