With a statement like that, I wonder if the selfish will buy into forgiving and others into not forgiving in order not to be selfish?

Whatever... If we won’t forgive others when we are asked to by Jesus, I seriously doubt that men’s or women’s words will move us to forgiveness.

Jesus used several verses of Scripture to encourage us to forgive others. The Apostle Matthew shares Jesus' good advice:

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
(Matthew 6:14-15)

"God, help me to quickly forgive others that my fellowship with You be not hindered. Amen."
