Ottawa is working on a monument to remember the over 100 million souls that have been slaughtered by atheists in the last eighty or so years.

... and guess what? The large majority of those souls have been Christians.


Haven't heard about this? Let's see now.... is 100 million a larger number than 6 million? Not diminishing what happened to the Jews... but a little reality is helpful here.

We have a face for Hitler... and it is rightly despised... but what is the face of communism/socialism/atheism?

Might want to take a look at the "do-gooder" politics of our day... the direction we would be led... and we might start to get a few pictures in our minds of the face of communistic hatred and vitriol against godly, moral, Christians... and the efforts to silence them...

....When Zuzana Hahn talks of communism, though, her voice breaks. Her eyes well up. Four decades ago, her family experienced the real thing in Czechoslovakia. It was not funny. When Alexander Dubcek tried liberalizing the country, and the Soviets answered with tanks in Prague, they fled. Using a visa allowing her parents to deliver her as far as a German private school, they kept running until they came to Canada. She still gets emotional remembering it.

"I don't care what you think about the idealism of communism," says the Toronto designer. It is a system that, outside this fortunate nation, stands in many minds for terror. "It's undeniable that there are victims of communism. Over 100 million died at the hands of their own statesmen."

Yet, she notes, for all the memorials to six million Jews murdered in the name of the Nazi ideology, there exist few markers commemorating the immense body count amassed under the hammer and sickle. Those lives could soon be remembered, though, in a memorial to the victims of communism, planned for Canada's capital, which has the energetic backing of the Conservative government.

Three years ago, Jason Kenney -- then secretary of state for multiculturalism, now federal Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism -- says he met with the Czech and Slovak Association, who brought him to a small memorial for communism's victims they had built in a private Toronto park. It was a Christ-like figure crucified on a hammer and sickle. "I said to them, sort of half jokingly, 'Any chance we could move this to Ottawa as a national monument?'" he recalls. "They said, 'That's a brilliant idea, why don't we do that? Why don't we create a monument for the victims of Communism in Ottawa?'....
