You can bet the prodigal son found the truth of that statement when his funds ran out. While the money lasted, he had friends to excess, but no one to take him to a meal when he was broke. (Luke 15:11-16)

Finally, he remembered that he could find food in his father’s house, and as he returned, he found--in addition to food--acceptance and love.

"God, help us not to leave to find out what we will miss, but help us to cling to the love and fellowship You have for us. Amen."
