Received this today from Dave Ryan, President and CEO of American Solutions. It is an informational announcement about an upcoming "Notice and Comment" opportunity by the US Department of the Interior concerning offshore drilling for our available oil and gas resources.

Anyone able to attend?

American Solutions

Dear Chuck,

Next week, we have a big opportunity to make sure that we begin drilling for more American oil and gas. The U.S. Department of the Interior, which decides when and where we drill, is holding four regional meetings as part of their "Notice and Comment" period. This is when they ask for the opinions of the American people on offshore drilling.

Believe it or not, this feedback plays a huge role in deciding if, when, and where we drill. The anti-drilling interest groups will be turning out their activists in full force. We must make sure the pro-drilling side is heard. More importantly, we must win.

Everything you need to know can be found at the link below:

We've listed the time, location, and we even put together talking points and other printable material you can take with you. This is your chance to make the case for drilling here and drilling now. Please consider making the trip if you can. If you have friends or family in the area and they can go, make sure to let them know as well.

Thanks and be sure to report back.

Sincerely,

Dave Ryan

Following are a few of the facts on the site's "fact" page that you might find interesting about the amount of available oil and gas off our shores...

According to conservative estimates from MMS there are about 288 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 52 billion barrels of oil in the OCS off the lower 48 states:
• This is enough oil to maintain current oil production for 105 years and current natural gas production for 71 years;
• That is enough oil to produce gasoline for 132 million cars and heating oil for 54 million homes for 15 years; and
• That is enough natural gas to heat 72 million homes for 60 years, OR to supply current industrial and commercial needs for 28 years OR to supply current electricity generating needs for 53 years.

Why would our government not want us to have access to these resources?
