Daily Nugget

Monday, December 8th, 2014.  Today's cherished nugget from guest blogger, Pastor Bill.

A blind girl, whose eyes had been opened by a surgical operation, delighted in the sight of her father who had a noble appearance and presence. His every look and motion were watched by his daughter with the keenest delight. For the first time his constant tenderness and care seemed real to her. If he caressed her or even looked upon her kindly, it brought tears of gladness to her eyes. “To think,” she said, holding his hand closely in her own, “that I have had you for a father all these years, and never really knew you."

I believe this is the same feeling some folks feel at salvation as they find out what they had missed in their not having had a relationship with Jesus Christ. Similarly, later in life, some Christians who draw closer in their personal walk with Jesus will discover the blessing they missed all along by not trusting God and walking closer to Him. Consider these words from the writer of James 4:8 as he said, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Oh, what blessings we forfeit when we do not include Him in our daily lives.

God, Thank You for desiring a closer walk with us than we can even comprehend.  Amen.
