Day 81, Yahweh: Meaning of Prophet

1Kings 22:7 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

“But Jehoshaphat asked, ‘Isn't there a prophet of Yahweh here any more? Let's ask him.’”

 In the midst of the clamor of popular self exaltation there is one leader, Jehoshaphat, that has the wisdom to ask if there is not at least one spokesman that will actually speak the truth from Yahweh ... and there is one.

 The meaning of the Hebrew word for "prophet" is simply … spokesman.

Most people, when they think of a "prophet" think of someone that can predict the future. This idea is actually a very small usage of the word/person in scripture ... the far more represented presentation is of one that will speak God's truth ... and that is often directly in the face of glorified fabrications of human indulgences.

 Hear the heart of God ... speak from the mind of God ... you will be a prophet.

 Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father!  In this day … in this hour … in this moment of human experience … give us grace and wisdom to exalt Your Name above every Name … and hold to and proclaim You Truth to our culture and our time … for Your Name’s sake.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
