Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill
About 100 years
ago, there was a candlestick maker who often stopped at a market and bought a
fish for his evening meal. The fish was wrapped in ordinary paper,
which not only became soggy but also the passengers on the street
car always complained about the odor. One morning he dipped the paper in
molten wax and wrapped his fish in the treated paper. As a result,
the paper did not become soggy, and there was no odor. That is how waxed paper
was born.
Too many times an
opportunity looks and smells so much like a problem most of us will miss it.
On the other hand, someone else rolls up his or her sleeves and makes a
difference that affects us all. In James 1:5, we are given this advice: “Now if any of
you lacks wisdom, he
should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it
will be given to him.”
God,
give us wisdom to know what we can or even need to change and wisdom to
know what we need to learn to accept. Amen.
