Yahweh's Presence. There is no greater blessing or reality.

We saw in the opening chapters of Ezekiel the revelation of God's Spirit, then the devastation in chapter 11 of the departing of God's Spirit from Israel. No greater tragedy could they imagine. Now, at the conclusion of the book we see not only the return of Yahweh, but also His abiding Presence.

It would be very difficult to grasp the revolutionary concept here to the Hebrew mind, or the ancient world for that matter. The Greeks were so far from any consideration like this that they could not begin to imagine a "Present" god. For them, the holiness of their main god would never allow that said god to ever even encounter any part of the "material" universe, much less earth itself ... to the Greek, all "matter" was by default stained and evil in and of itself. That idea certainly included humanity.

To one degree or another, the other main religions fall along these lines of separateness.

Ezekiel ends with the unthinkable. Yahweh, has returned ... and His intention is to remain ... present.
