Daily Nugget

Saturday, June 4th, 2011.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“The widest thing in the universe is not space; it is the potential capacity of the human heart. Being made in the image of God, it is capable of almost unlimited extension in all directions. And one of the world’s greatest tragedies is that we allow our hearts to shrink until there is room in them for little beside ourselves.”
(A. W. Tozer, 1897–1963)

Within each of us is the capability to love and have compassion on a world of people we may never meet. That is what missions is all about. The inverse of this quote is true also. When we become so self-centered our hearts fail to reach beyond ourselves, that is also evident. The apostle Paul gives this advice in Galatians 6:2-3:
“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.”

"God, let our hearts beat in unison wth Your will.
Amen."
