Comes Near

I called on Your name, Yahweh, from the depths of the Pit. You hear my plea: Do not ignore my cry for relief. You come near when I call on You; You say: "Do not be afraid."

Yahweh comes near when we call on His Name. This is for Christians a powerful blessing ... and promise from our Creator.

In the Old Testament ... when humanity was still under the Old Covenant ... the thought of Yahweh actually coming near was actually a terrifying aspect for the typical person ... thus the Israelites said to Moses, "You go up on the mountain!" They wanted nothing to do with being in the presence of God ... but for we believers it is our blessed consolation and hope.

For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father!"
