The Chaplain's Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

You know how sometimes when you're reading the Bible a verse will just sort of 'jump off the page' - well that how it was with Deut. 6:18,
"you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may be well with you."

Somehow that sounded strange, different than what our culture promotes; "do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD." Then it hit me; our world tells us to 'do what is right and good in our own sight.' Do what seems or feels good to us.

I saw a tee shirt that said, "If it feels good - Do It." And listen, there are a lot of things that 'feel good' - at least for a time. In fact the Bible tells us, that sin brings pleasure - for a little while (Heb. 11:25). But then, there's hell to pay!

Listen to the verse again, "you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may be well with you," NOT your ideas of right and good, but HIS. And what are the results? "that it may be well with you."

Isn't that what you're really looking for? Just to know that things are well, OK, between you and the eternal God. You can have that, but it has to be on His terms. Do you know what His terms are?
