Monday, July 12th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

He who says, “I’m a self-made man,” simply demonstrates the horror of unskilled labor.

With these words, the writer of Isaiah 64:6 properly describes our best efforts to make something of ourselves:
“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.”
In our own conceit of describing our sin as a dampened tissue wiping moisture from our lips, we lose the picture God has of the defilement of our sins. The way He sees our sin is the most gross form of dirty, soiled, contaminated rags--rags we would only want to throw away. Yet God loves us so much He sent His Son Jesus to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In light of acknowledging our sins, we need to remember and apply the words of the writer of Isaiah 1:18:
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

"God, thank You for loving me as filthy as I was and for still loving me.
Amen."

Bro. Bill

God loves you!
