The Chaplain's Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

Sometimes a good thing can become a bad thing. What was a pretty little thing can grow into something very ugly. And what starts out as harmless, and useful, can change into something very destructive.

We had a small tree in the front yard; a cute little willow tree. But before to many years it had grown into something that was threating and completely out of control. I tried to trim it back, cut off a lot of limbs, but it kept growing and the roots were taking over the yard. It is amazing how much damage tree roots can do. So we had to have it cut down and the stump ground up. A friend, Larry, knows all about these things and has the equipment to do what needs to be done. So he took care of it; and in a while the yard will look better than ever.

That tree is like sin in our lives. It always starts small and seems innocent. "It's just a little sin and it doesn't really hurt anything." But before you know it the roots are running deep and causing more trouble than you ever dreamed possible.

Listen, trimming it back is not what's needed. You need to take drastic action, a major eradication project. Luckily I can recommend someone that has the ability to handle the situation. He is the Lord, Jesus Christ. In Ezek. 36:27-28 the Lord says, "I'll give you a new heart; put a new spirit in you. I'll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that's God-willed, not self-willed. I'll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands."

Question: do you need a spiritual heart transplant? I recommend Doctor Jesus.
