Tennessee State Board of Education has approved the study of the Bible as actually being a part of history.

The reality is that hiding the reality of the Bible in the history of America... shucks... the Western World for that matter... is an affront to true education.

New Guidelines for Teaching Bible in Public Schools
by Jonathan Serrie

As with many controversial issues, teaching about the Bible in public schools has been a political pendulum — swinging from a time when teaching Christian theology was not only accepted, but expected — to a time when the Bible was virtually banned from the classroom.

Now, the Tennessee Board of Education has adopted a new set of guidelines for public schools wanting to teach about the Bible and its influence on law, literature and history. The policy is a middle of the road approach that seeks common ground for both church/state separationists and advocates for Biblical literacy.

This is a very welcomed development and it should prove to be fun watching it play out in the days ahead.

Of course, the MSM is being as quite about this as possible... but in a few days watch for the weeping and wailing to begin... will probably start with Keith Olbermann. (But shucks... to get to watch Keith have a melt down over this would be quite a delight!)
