Monday, May 18th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“It seems strange that nothing could have been done for her,” someone was saying of a woman who had just died. “I have been told that she consulted some of the most eminent physicians in the country.”

“Oh, yes, she consulted them,” was the reply. “The trouble was that it ended there. She never took the advice they gave her.”

The same is true of a good many of us. It isn’t that we have had a lack of advice, but rather we have refused to take it.

Wow, how many of us fit this picture? We have God’s Word, The Bible in our hands, and yet many seldom take its advice. It is not enough to hear or read the words of God, we must obey His Word.

In the book of James we're told,
"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
James 1:22-25

Be a doer and not a hearer only.
