Jim Elliot the Christian Martyr understood what Paul meant in Philippians 1:21when he told the believers in Philippi, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” We must learn to hold loosely to the things of this world that are temporary and cling to the faith that is within us carrying us to the permanent home in heaven.

Another way of looking at this during these days is to see the importance of investing in the eternal where rust and moths (or bad economy) does not corrupt. (Matthew 6:19-20)
