HERE SHE IS AMERICANS.

The USS New York ready for commissioning this coming November 7, 2009.

In the bow of the ship there is seven and one-half tons of steel raised from the rubble of the World Trade Centers.

USS NEW YORK (LPD-21) is coming home to her namesake city and state on November 2, 2009.

Look for the Navy's newest amphibious warship to grace the Manhattan skyline as she slides into a berth at a Hudson River pier in preparation for her commissioning on November 7.

Preceded by a series of onboard and citywide activities, the formal ceremony will transform USS NEW YORK from a newly constructed military vessel to an active component of the United States Navy.

With seven and a half tons of Twin Towers steel in her bow, this 21st-century stealth ship will thereafter take a piece of New York with her wherever she goes, her motto “Strength Forged through Sacrifice: Never Forget” signifying an undying commitment to freedom's defense.

Steeped in naval tradition, the order 'Man your ship and bring her to life!' will convert vessel, components, officers and crew into a fully integrated launching platform for amphibious assaults...

At her official site we can follow her leading up to the commissioning date, new pictures posted, etc.

God Bless her.

xtnyoda, shalomed.
