IT IS TIME FOR US TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE CHRISTIAN APOLOGETIC AND IT'S FIELD OF NEED FOR OUR DAY....
Historically the Christian Apologist was called upon to present/defend the Christian Faith to a skeptical and unbelieving world. We find this even in the writing of the New Testament texts themselves as introduced here in the Wikipedia article.

NOW, FOR THE SAD STATE OF TODAY'S REALITY.
What few have grasped in this day is that the current state of the Western Church is so embedded with secular humanistic philosophy and self seeking psychology that today's Christian Apologist is being called upon by God to actually defend God to the church itself.
I simply cannot overstate the sad significance of the above statement.
To put it another way, the world is in the church.
Or... the worldly psycho-centric focus on the individual self and it's individual pursuits, desires, flaws, and narcissism has all but relegated the ideal of God to a grand provider of all that one's lusts can long for.
The current legalism has devolved to prostituting spiritual disciplines to the disturbing guttural realm of attempting to convince God to grant more "blessings" as I learn to manipulate Him to give up Heavenly benefits. Those typically being a crass focus on exorbitant materialism and personal benefits being dolled out by God.
Even more disgusting is the prostitution of "worship" to a focus on the individual self and self's reaction/response/enjoyment of "worship" instead of the biblical focus on the fact that "worship" is wholly to be our heart's desire to give joy to God by our "worship."
Period.
If our purpose in "worship" is not solely for the benefit and enjoyment of God, then we have made ourselves our own idols. That... we would call "idolatry." God has set in stone that He will tear down every idol constructed by mankind.
And... God is.
Tomorrow I will demonstrate how we have perverted the very basic purpose of prayer. We not only don't know how to pray... we know not for that which we are instructed to pray... clearly instructed by Christ Himself.
