Daily Nugget
Wednesday, October, 15th, 2014. Today's cherished nugget from Guest Blogger,
Pastor Bill.
A fellow bumped into his old friend whom he hadn’t
seen in many years. He asked, “How’s your wife?”
His friend replied, “She’s in heaven.”
Without thinking, the fellow responded, “Oh, I’m
sorry.” Then, realizing that was not the best phrase to use, he said, “I mean,
I’m glad…. Well, what I really mean is,
I’m surprised.”
Sometimes nothing we say can straighten out what we
have said. When that happens, the best thing to say is to let our silence speak
louder than our words.
The writer of Ecclesiastes 3:1-7 reminds us in this
manner: “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the
heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to
pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to
break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time
to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather
stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A
time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A
time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak.”
God, give me wisdom for use of my lips and help me
to use it. Amen.
