The Chaplains Corner

The Chaplains Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

Another sign caught my attention this week; the first line was "Community Christian School." then some additional information. The first two words of that sign 'Community Christian' got me to thinking. We need more 'Community Christians'.

We have a lot of Church Christians - that is people that act a certain way on Sunday morning, but then when the service is over their behavior and lifestyle is certainly not Christ-like. What makes us think it's OK to ignore what the Bible says about how we should live? Do we really believe that God is oblivious to our sins?

Listen, I'm talking to folks who claim to be Christians. If that's you, then I want to know - does your life measure up to your title? God does not expect non-Christians to live Christ-like lives; some do, and that's great. But He does expect His kids to behave like His kids.

Ephesians 4:1 tells us,
"live a life worthy of the calling you have received."
And 2Peter 3:11 says,
"You should lead holy and godly lives."
This is not a new problem. Jesus told the 'Church Christians' of his day,
'You hypocrites and frauds; you're like manicured graves, you look nice on top, but underneath it's just rotting bones and worm-eaten flesh.' (Matthew 23:27)
That's pretty plain talk, but that's what the Lord said. Let me ask you again; are you a Community Christian or just a Church Christian, which one best describes you?
