Not to be forgiven by someone can be a source of contention and make you feel uncomfortable. But to not forgive someone places you in your own prison. By not forgiving someone you are holding your own joy and peace hostage. In Matthew 6:14-15 Jesus puts it this way,

“If ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
