Sunday, October 10th, 2010. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“If a man could have half his wishes, he would double his troubles.”
(Benjamin Franklin 1706–1790)

It is a good thing we don’t always get what we wish for. Just as our parents protected us many times growing up, God continues to keep us from "wishing" ourselves into more trouble than we can stand. The writer of James 2:3 reminds us:
“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”
It is a good thing that most wishes never make it into a prayer, and what's even better is that when our prayer is wrong, God intervenes and translates it back to our needs.

"God, thank You for knowing all about me and protecting me in my ignorance.
Amen."

Bro. Bill

Our God is an awesome God.
