Thursday, September 16th, 2010. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“You can chop a cocklebur down, but if it has just a few days before frost, it will pop up even if only three or four inches tall and produce a seed.”
(Betty--my mother)

As far as I can tell, the cocklebur is neither a pretty plant nor a useful plant; however, in spite of great challenges, that sprout does what it was created to do. No matter what obstacles come its way, the plant produces fruit. In the same way, when challenges come our way and we are inclined to quit think about the cocklebur, we need to remember these words of the apostle Paul:
“Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
(Corinthians 15:58)

"God, help me to remember to stay faithful, even when challenged in my daily opportunities.
Amen."
