Mitch Anthony, from The Daily Dose encourages us to LISTEN WITH OUR FACE!

This is some really great advise for everyone to heed. In this world of way too many distractions, people still yearn to know that you hold high value of them. This is one simple yet powerful way to "say" to another that they are important to you... and if you don't do this... often little else will matter.

Listen With Your Face

“To listen well is as powerful a means of influence as to talk well, and is as essential to all true conversation.”

I recently overheard one father telling a story about coming home after a hard day’s work and plopping down into his easy chair to relax with the newspaper.

One of his sons entered and started to tell him what he thought was a fairly important event in his day.

Dad “listened” to the story while continuing to scan the newspaper. Frustrated, the son burst out, “Dad, please put the paper down. I’m trying to tell you something.” “I’m listening, Son,” he said. “I could repeat everything back to you.” “But, Dad,” he pleaded, “I want you to listen with your face.”

Kids do say the darnedest and wisest things, don’t they?

I think of my own mannerisms and, like other multi-taskers, I always need to be doing two things at once – talking on the phone and writing, or organizing and straightening up while talking to a family member.

Some people feel that if they are not doing two things at one time, then they are not being productive – which can drive other people crazy!

Listen with your face. People want to see your eyes, which shows you are sincerely interested, and your facial response, which demonstrates participation – to know for sure that their words have been heard.

The first duty of love is to listen.

Truth spoken here.
