A thought for my friends for this new year.

Don't ask God to bless this year. Rather...far rather...thank God for the manifold riches with which He has already blessed us with indescribable glory.

Eph 1:3-6
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
(ESV)

There simply is no greater blessing than that which we have already been blessed.

Our mandate is to explore and discover that which we have already received...from God.

To actually ponder that our God chose us in Christ even before the foundation of the world is remarkable. To delve deeply into the presence of Christ is to discover joy beyond description. To embrace the One who loved us and gave Himself for us is the most satisfying of all pursuits...and humbling.

Who am I, that I should be loved as this? But...I cherish the thought...I relish the reality...I marvel in the majesty of His greatness.

With every fiber of my being I adjure us each and every one...lift up our heads.

Behold the Glory of the Son...accepted by the Father...receiving us in tender mercy and compassion.

Like the new mother drawing that miracle of life warmly to her nourishing breast...drink deeply from His wellspring of grace.

Behold the man. Laying all His purity and goodness before the altar of God's vehement wrath...in abject submission...to appease the rage of Heaven against our putrescence and shame...simply because of the greatness of His love...for He is the very essence of selfless love and splendor.

God...after our millenniums of defiance and rebellion...came to rest from His ardently wrathful state...at last...God rested...He could breath again...the sweet fragrance of sacrificial praise..."Yet will I praise Thee"...filled His heart with peace.

And...there we are.

Say...sir...have you found yourself there?

Dear lady...have you robed yourself there?

Wrap yourself there.

Grasp hold of the horns of this altar. Never let go...but rather climb up onto that altar of adoration...for this is our destiny.

We are blessed.
