Hey, this is the Chaplain again and it’s getting close to Christmas.

Christmas holds special memories for most of us. One of mine is the Lionel electric train going around the Christmas tree with the headlight shinning and whistle blowing. But the train just sits there until you hook up that black box called the transformer. It takes that high voltage of the house and brings it down to where that small electric train can use it.

Today, maybe more than ever, we need God’s transforming power in our lives. His power to make our marriage work, His power to be what our kids need us to be, His power to rise above the stress, or to overcome our dark side.

On that first Christmas, Jesus Christ came to us as the Divine Transformer to bring the power of God within our reach. And the Bible says,

“Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.”
CEV (2 Corinthians 5:17 )

The things in you that you’ve never been able to change, Jesus can change. The you that you know you need to be, Jesus can make you. He died on the cross to forgive your past, and when you get Jesus, you get the transforming power of God.

Can you imagine – you being connected to God… You having a direct line to the Lord of the universe… what an awesome thing! That’s what Christmas is really all about.
