You've got to go check out the US Debt Clock.

The numbers are mounting right in front of your eyes and you watch the national debt going higher and higher... and the gross domestic product numbers losing ground steadily to the surging debt.

The site also has tabs at the bottom so you can check out their sources for their ever changing numbers.

A pretty sobering time piece.
