Thursday, August 20th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.
They were burying a rather unsavory character who had never been near a place of worship in his life. The services were being conducted by a minister who had never heard of him. Carried away by the occasion, the minister poured on praise for the departed man. After ten minutes of describing the late lamented as a father, husband, and boss, the widow, whose expression had grown more and more puzzled, nudged her son and whispered, “Go up there and make sure it’s Papa.”
Seldom does anyone really remember what the minister says at a funeral the individual has written his or her final memories long before that service comes.
Psalms 103:15 reminds us that life is short with these words:
“As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.”
We must live daily, writing the final chapter of our life story.
"God, let my story be a pure reflection of Your presence in my life.
Amen."
Walk in His presence always.
