Al Gore has come out of hiding and his response to the skeptics is that we are a generation of criminals.

He of course is the purest of prophets... even while still having the audacity of pushing his and Blood's scam of alternative fuels based on selling the carbon credit scheme to planet earth.

New York Times op-ed piece by Gore
We Can’t Wish Away Climate Change

It would be an enormous relief if the recent attacks on the science of global warming actually indicated that we do not face an unimaginable calamity requiring large-scale, preventive measures to protect human civilization as we know it.

Of course, we would still need to deal with the national security risks of our growing dependence on a global oil market dominated by dwindling reserves in the most unstable region of the world, and the economic risks of sending hundreds of billions of dollars a year overseas in return for that oil. And we would still trail China in the race to develop smart grids, fast trains, solar power, wind, geothermal and other renewable sources of energy — the most important sources of new jobs in the 21st century.

But what a burden would be lifted! We would no longer have to worry that our grandchildren would one day look back on us as a criminal generation that had selfishly and blithely ignored clear warnings that their fate was in our hands. We could instead celebrate the naysayers who had doggedly persisted in proving that every major National Academy of Sciences report on climate change had simply made a huge mistake.....

Thanks for the punch back Al... we were starting to worry about you and your stability.

Politico takes a really funny position on the vetting failures of John Edwards... their conclusion... it is the individual's staff that is responsible to vet their own bosses and inform the complicit MSM to the failures of the staff's bosses... so the MSM can be complicit without having to look complicit.

I know my summation sounds ridiculous... and it is ridiculous... but non-the-less... that's exactly what Politico says!

Read it for yourself!

Politico Whiny-baby article
Edwards epilogue: Does the press really vet presidential candidates?

Over the past few weeks, the world has learned quite enough about John Edwards – from the lies he told in trying to cover up an adulterous affair to the compulsive vanity that left some people close to him questioning his judgment and even his grip on reality.....

The revelations about Edwards... have undermined one of the favorite conceits of political journalism, that the intensive scrutiny given candidates by reporters during a presidential campaign is an excellent filter to determine who is fit for the White House.

While the media “usually does well” in vetting candidates, said presidential historian Michael Beschloss, “Edwards is a good case” in which it didn’t.

And that failure is worrisome in a changed political world where politicians - be they Barack Obama or Sarah Palin - can burst upon the national stage and seemingly overnight become candidates for higher office.

The media, according to Beschloss, now has “a much bigger responsibility than it used to.” In the past, he said, the political establishment “would usually have known the candidate for a long time, and if there were big problems, they probably would have known about those, and tried to make sure those people wouldn’t be nominated.”

That did not happen with Edwards, even though as a Senator he had run for president once before, in 2004, ended up on the Democratic ticket as John Kerry’s running mate, and was a known quantity to many top Democrats....

Two stories by the National Enquirer that ran before Iowa described Edwards’s affair with Rielle Hunter. But the mainstream media went to sources within the Edwards campaign to try to confirm the stories and got nowhere. No one in the campaign would confirm them.

Those staffers are the ones who should be held accountable, Marc Ambinder wrote in response to the question he posed on The Atlantic’s website: “Should Edwards Aides Be Shamed And Blamed?”

“It’s your responsibility to quit the campaign and not enable it,” he wrote. “If you enable it, you are responsible in some ways for the fallout. Your loyalty isn’t an excuse for that.” ....

OK... we've got it Politico... the National Enquirer is better at doing the job you have so gleefully prided yourself in... and you have admitted that a scumbag, sensationalist, rag paper like the Enquirer (this according to you MSM) is more reliable than yourself.

Then you pass whatever buck might be left in your corner to the politician's staff to initiate and inform you... do your job for you?

Just too funny.

Sunday, February 28th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

It is a blessing that almost every week someone does an act of kindness that may or may not get noticed. Though the act was not performed for "glory" nor was it even mentioned on earth, it is not dismissed in heaven.

As you bless someone this week remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:40:
“Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

"God, thank You for letting us be Your hands, Your eyes, and Your ears.
Amen."

The Chaplain's Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

Last week I gave you four words. This week should be much easier; this week I’ve cut it in half, only two words.

Are you ready? Here they come. “Commitment” or “Compromise”.

They kind of sound the same don’t they, Commitment –Compromise. They both start with the same syllable. They even have the same number of letters, ten. But they really are very different. I believe we can boil down our Christian journey to one of those two words. May I ask you, which word best describes your walk with the Lord lately; Commitment or Compromise?

Commitment is when following Jesus is the most important thing in your life. Compromise, well compromise is everything else. Peter, he is a good example. Remember he said, “Lord I’ll die for you!” But Jesus told him, “Peter before the rooster crows you’ll deny me 3 times.” (Luke 22:33-34) And he did.

How could that happen? Compromise. “Jesus was arrested and led away . . . while Peter followed at a distance.” (Luke 22:54) There it is, “Peter followed at a distance.” The different between Commitment and Compromise is the distance between you and the Lord.

Question – how closely are you following Jesus?

"If the Christian wants to receive any benefit as he looks in the mirror of the Word of God, he must approach it with humility. A man can counterfeit hope and all the other graces, but it is very difficult to counterfeit humility. One soon detects mock humility."

The writer of Proverbs 22:4 gives us this advice about humility:
“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.”

Some may wonder what xtnyoda's thoughts are on the "Health Care Summit" held in Washington the other day... well... I've found a few observations in a CNN article (of all places) that pretty well sums up my thoughts.

Enjoy.

CNN report
Health summit a 'stunt' and 'spectacle,' analysts say...

Analysts say it's political theater and a public relations move...

"I think it's reasonable to expect that an exchange like this is not going to change the public's skepticism about the way Washington works," said Michael Murakami, a visiting professor of government at Georgetown University....

Murakami added that the summit is a "big PR stunt" where "nothing is going to be decided."

Presidential historian Douglas Brinkley said the summit "wasn't much more than a TV spectacle."....

Now ask yourself...

"Who called for this summit to take place?"

"Who set and controlled the agenda for and during the summit?"

Enough said?

Friday, February 26th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A little girl had been told many times by a childless old couple that if she would come and live with them, they would get her everything she wanted—a pony and cart, a piano...whatever she wanted. One day when the couple had been particularly urgent, her father said, “Don’t you think you had better go with them?” The little girl looked at him in alarm and cried, “Why, Daddy? Don’t you want me?” “Yes,” he replied, “but I can’t give you very much, and they will give you everything nice.” “But I wouldn’t have you!” she said, snuggling up to him.
This story puts me in the mind of the old song, “I’d Rather Have Jesus than Silver or Gold.”

The writer of Matthew 6:33 gives us these words of Jesus: “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
"God, thank You for wanting a daily walk with me.
Amen."

Thursday, February 25th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A father, who attended church with his little boy, found fault with everything in the service. As he walked home, he criticized the minister, the sermon, the choir, and everything in general. The boy, who had noticed what his father put in the offering plate, said, “Well, Dad, what can you expect for a quarter?”

The dad was confused about what was important. The important thing (worshiping the one true God) was infinitely more important than the preacher and what he had to say, than the choir and what they sang, than those in the pew and how they worshipped, and anything else that had happened. When we worship Jehovah God, it will not matter where or with whom as long as we let the Holy Spirit dwell in us. We must let the words of the writer of John 4:24 speak to us:

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
If these words ring true in our hearts, the superficial will fall away. God doesn't need our quarter, He lets us participate in His kingdom as an act of worship.

"God, You are my God.
Amen."

How about a little humor...

that does good like a medicine?

I was testing the children in my Sunday school class to see if they understood the concept of getting to heaven.

I asked them, 'If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale and gave all my money to the church, Would that get me into Heaven?'

'NO!' the children answered.

'If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything neat and tidy, would that get me into Heaven?'

Again, the answer was, 'NO!' By now I was starting to smile. Hey, this was fun!

'Well, then, if I was kind to animals and gave candy to all the children, and loved my husband, would that get me into Heaven?' I asked them again.

Again, they all answered, 'NO!'

I was just bursting with pride for them. 'Well,' I continued, 'then how can I get into Heaven?'

A five-year-old boy shouted out, 'YOU GOTTA BE DEAD.'

Thanks Kristen!

Wednesday, February 24th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

On a blank leaf of his Bible, a man had drawn a circle with several radii converging on the center, which he called “Christ.” On the radii were written the names of different denominations of Christians. Underneath were written the words: “The nearer to the center, the nearer to one another.”

An old song, "Near to the Heart of God," expresses an attitude of the closer walk with our Heavenly Father. The closer we come to the throne of God, the faster the trappings of titles and religion fall away.

When that happens, we can see the Father’s face.

Let us pray with the writer of Psalms 51:10:
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

"God, even as my desire is to be near You, increase my desire for more of You.
Amen."

Accuweather is reporting another sure sign and evidence of global warming... it's what they call, "A powerful storm of historical proportions..." the winds coming are described as being of "hurricane" force...

We've never seen this before friends... and this storm coming Thursday and Friday is going to come on top of a continuous snow fall of some 18 inches before the storm even starts?....

Accuweather epic report
A powerful storm of historical proportions is aiming at much of the Northeast Thursday into Friday and will follow up to a foot and a half of snow through Wednesday over upstate New York and western New England.

This second storm will be nothing short of a monster. Even in light of the blizzards earlier this winter that targeted the southern mid-Atlantic, this may be the one that people remember the most this winter in parts of New England and the northern mid-Atlantic.

At its peak, the storm will deliver near hurricane-force wind gusts (74 mph) blinding snow falling at the rate of over an inch per hour. For some people in upstate New York and eastern and northern Pennsylvania, this may seem more like a "snow hurricane" rather than a blizzard.

Cities likely to be impacted by heavy snow for all or at least part of the storm include: New York City, Albany, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, Scranton, Allentown, Reading, Williamsport and Burlington.....

Oh... by the way... it is snowing up and down the entire eastern third of the state of Texas today and moving into Louisiana.

And... according to the pundits... this is because of global warming.

Thousands of snow-clearing machines have been working to dig the Russian capital Moscow out of a record-breaking fall of 63cm (nearly 25 inches).

After a weekend of heavy snow showers, the regional weather centre announced that the previous record of 62cm, set in 1966, had been broken.....

Tuesday, February 23rd. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

One day, a frantic mother called her pastor. As so many of us do, she was experiencing a bad case of “nerves.” The pastor thought he heard a child’s voice while she was speaking, so he asked, “Is your child as upset and worried as you are?”

“No, of course not,” she replied.

“But why not?” persisted the pastor.

“I suppose she puts her trust in me and lets me do the worrying,” she answered.

“Then," said the pastor, "make a transference. Try to think of yourself as a child of God, and just as your child puts her trust in you, you put your trust in God.”

Let us follow the advice given by the writer of 1Peter 5:7:
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

"God, thank You for walking with me and handling the details of my life.
Amen."

Believe me when I say that you DO want to go read David's entire post!

He has spoken eloquently to the feelings and emotions of the men and women that served in Korea, Vietnam, and now Iraq and Afghanistan.

MUST READ!

Our Mission is Finally Accomplished… Anyone Care?
By David Bellavia
New York Times

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. military mission in Iraq will soon be getting a new name.

As of Sept. 1, Operation Iraqi Freedom becomes Operation New Dawn.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in a memo Wednesday that the name change — which is to immediately follow the scheduled withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq — will send a strong signal that American forces have a new mission. He also said it reinforces the U.S. commitment to honor its security agreement with Iraq and recognizes ”our evolving relationship” with the government there.

I am not naive. I understand that there are individuals who opposed the war in Iraq from the very beginning and I believe their passion, although misguided at times, is rooted in a deep desire for peace. What always baffled me was the reaction they had to pro-victory veterans when we came home. As if we were some robotic arm of the Bush White House. It was foreign for them to understand why winning in Iraq was so important.

Our friends died in this cause. There is no honor in their death unless we complete the mission they died fighting.

Everyone is exposed to the death of someone close to them at least one time in their lives. Cancer, accidents, sometimes it is sudden or violent. Rarely do we see it. But when we do our lives are affected forever because of it. We live in a culture where there must be a reason for everything that goes wrong. Obama is responsible for job loss. Bush ruined the housing market. The tires that blew out on my car that I was driving was a manufacturing error and not due to the fact that I was driving on the sidewalk.

Someone is responsible for everything that goes wrong in America. It makes us feel better to know it wasn’t our fault.

The war in Iraq was no different. While many scurried to blame Donald Rumsfeld, General Franks or President Bush for losing the war in Iraq, they bet against the American fighting men and women to turn the tide of the war. “The mission” in Iraq was evil. The troops would never be maligned as they were in Vietnam.

I don’t begrudge these people. They simply will never get it. They are the type of people you need to protect in a society. They are innocent and naive.

It is the job of the warrior to hide them under the bed and tell them it will be okay, before we run off to combat the threat.

The ones that hold my contempt are those who, even today, know of the sacrifice made, the incredible progress gained and still will not acknowledge what was won on the ground in Iraq. They cheapen the sacrifice of how it was earned. Operation Iraqi Freedom is no more.

Operation New Dawn (the exact same name of the Battle of Fallujah in November 2004) is the new name of the deployment to Iraq.

What we achieved in the face of an implacable enemy, overcoming many in our own government willfully ignorant of our struggle, is what I believe to be the defining moment of my generation. The veteran today is the embodiment of what it means to be an American. Even when our valor was used for political sport, we continued to serve quietly......

Thank you David for your service sir... we are a grateful nation... the rest can... well... you know.

Day 41
Yahweh... Proclaiming... His Name to Man's Spiritual Dullness... #11

Yahweh has just appeared to Moses... declared His intention and character to Moses... Moses rightly bows down in wonder and awe... then asks God if God will accept Moses and Israel... even in light of the fact that Yahweh has just declared that that was in fact His intention!

Can we dare imagine how frustrated God must become with humanity?
Exodus 34:8-10
8 Moses immediately bowed down to the ground and worshiped.

9 Then he said, "My Lord, if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, my Lord, please go with us. Even though this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our wrongdoing and sin, and accept us as Your own possession."

10 And the Lord responded: "Look, I am making a covenant. I will perform wonders in the presence of all your people that have never been done in all the earth or in any nation. All the people you live among will see the Lord's work, for what I am doing with you is awe-inspiring..."
(Holman Christian Standard Bible)

One can almost hear exasperation in Yahweh's opening in verse 10: "Look, I am making a covenant!" (exclamation mark my addition for emphasis!)

Would that we could learn to take Yahweh at His Word... the first time... and never doubt in the tumult what He has revealed in the heart.

Some would object that Yahweh seldom if ever speaks to them.

No... Yahweh is always speaking to the heart of humanity... to you... we must learn to listen... and be willing to hear... and believe... what He says.

Matthew Continetti, of the Weekly Standard, has put together a few quotes from "progressive liberals" demonstrating for all we neanderthal, dimwitted conservatives that our nation's problems are all our fault... and how according to them democracy has outlived it's time.

Weekly Stnadard
Blame Americans First... Democrats lose patience with democracy.

What’s the clearest sign the Obama agenda is in trouble? That’s easy: the string of jeremiads in the pages of the New York Times, Washington Post, and other outlets of fashionable opinion. Unable to tout the administration’s successes, and worried about Republican ascendancy, liberals have assigned responsibility for the mess they’re in neither to their program nor to their methods but to larger, structural faults in American politics and society. Beginning with you.

You aren’t too bright, for one thing. After all, opines Jacob Weisberg in Newsweek, the “biggest culprit” behind “our political paralysis” is the “childishness, ignorance, and growing incoherence of the public at large.” You simply do not know what’s good for you. “On many issues these days,” writes the Washington Post’s Steven Pearlstein, “the American people are badly confused.” “The people may have spoken,” writes the New -Yorker’s James Surowiecki. “It’s just not clear that they’re making any sense.” In a blog post titled “Too Dumb to Thrive,” Time magazine’s Joe Klein cuts to the chase: “It is very difficult to thrive in an increasingly competitive world if you’re a nation of dodos.”

... And that’s the problem, says Kurt Andersen in New York magazine. “American democracy has gotten way too democratic.” The “thoughtful, educated, well-off, well-regarded gentlemen” who designed our Constitution “wanted a government run by an American elite like themselves.” But the “populist impulse” abroad in the land today has scared legislators into obeying the people’s demands.

It was not always thus. “In the old days,” Andersen laments, “the elite media really did control the national political discourse” and “presidents and congressional leaders could pretty well manage the policy conversations” without the public trying to butt in. But there’s no going back now; “maybe our republic’s constitutional operating system simply can’t scale up to deal satisfactorily with a heterogenous population of 310 million.”....

.... In a Huffington Post blog, Senator Tom Harkin, Democrat of Iowa, writes that special interests are “using the filibuster to stop legislation that would benefit the little guy,” whether the little guy likes it or not.

If I could speak to these "progressives" I would point out to them that THEY are the problem... THEY are in the minority... THEY are the very ones standing in the way of true economic and social progress in this nation.

They are going to learn just how much THEY are in the minority this coming November when America votes... and just like they are quoted... they would LOVE to stop the vote in November... it's the only way they can "hide the decline" in their elected numbers.

UHHHH OHHHH!

There is big time trouble brewing on The Hill and the American Spectator is all over it...

After you take a look at the whole Spectator article... the question begs itself...

"Will the MSM pick up on this major story and run with it?

Ameican Spectator breaking news report
White House Accused of Federal Crime in Specter, Bennet Races

"Whoever solicits or receives … any….thing of value, in consideration of the promise of support or use of influence in obtaining for any person any appointive office or place under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both." -- 18 USC Sec. 211 -- Bribery, Graft and Conflicts of Interest: Acceptance or solicitation to obtain appointive public office

"In the face of a White House denial, U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak stuck to his story yesterday that the Obama administration offered him a "high-ranking" government post if he would not run against U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania's Democratic primary."
-- Philadelphia Inquirer
February 19, 2010
A bombshell has just exploded in the 2010 elections.

For the second time in five months, the Obama White House is being accused -- by Democrats -- of offering high ranking government jobs in return for political favors. What no one is reporting is that this is a violation of federal law that can lead to prison time, a fine or both, according to Title 18, Chapter 11, Section 211 of the United States Code.

The jobs in question? Secretary of the Navy and a position within the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The favor requested in return? Withdrawal from Senate challenges to two sitting United States Senators, both Democrats supported by President Obama. The Senators are Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania and Michael Bennet in Colorado.

On Friday, Pennsylvania Congressman Joe Sestak, the Democrat challenging Specter for re-nomination, launched the controversy by accusing the Obama White House of offering him a federal job in exchange for his agreeing to abandon his race against Specter.....

What do you think? How long before the MSM is forced to pick this up? And keep in mind that these accusations are being leveled from within their own party.

Consider and ponder.

At least one congressman, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), is submitting a plan that is something other than the recent barrage of "government take all/government control all" health and tax plans currently being shoved around in congress.

Newsweek article
As Obama's national-debt panel prepares for deliberations, one congressman proposes how to get back in the black.

Imagine your family's finances if you spent and borrowed like Washington... your family would be ruined. But this is the path your government is on right now.

Today, our country faces a fiscal meltdown—and Washington's continued cowardice is a big part of the problem. The social-insurance strategies of the 20th century—Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security—are driving our federal government and economy to collapse... Now, the recession and Washington's recent spending spree have accelerated the day of reckoning.

Consider just one program: Medicare. Today, this program is short $38 trillion of what it promises to provide your parents, you, and your kids. In five years, the hole will grow to $52 trillion. Your family's share: $458,000. Medicaid will add trillions more in state and federal debt.

Social Security's surplus is already gone, and its debt is mounting. Without shoring up its finances, the government will be forced to cut benefits nearly 25 percent or raise payroll taxes more than 30 percent.

Both Republicans and Democrats share the blame for failing to be candid about the difficult choices we face and for continuing to make promises that cannot be kept. Some apparently have no sense of shame about shaking a tin cup at China and Japan.

I've put forward a specific solution to meet this challenge, a plan the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says can achieve its goals of paying off government debt in the long run—while securing the social safety net and making possible future economic growth. I call it "A Roadmap for America's Future." If followed, this is what will happen:

HEALTH CARE
You, not your government or your boss, should own your health plan. The Roadmap replaces a tax break that benefits only those with job-based health insurance with tax credits that benefit every American. It addresses the key drivers of rising health-care costs, securing universal access to quality, affordable health coverage.

MEDICARE
Everyone 55 and over will remain in the current program. For those now under 55, the Roadmap turns Medicare into a health-care program like the one enjoyed by members of Congress. Future seniors will receive a voucher and will be able to choose from a list of Medicare-certified insurance plans that best suit their needs. The government subsidy will provide additional support for those with lower incomes and higher health costs.

SOCIAL SECURITY
Everyone 55 and older will remain in the existing program with no change. My plan offers those now under 55 a choice: continue to take part in traditional Social Security or join a retirement system like Congress's own plan. Future seniors will be able to invest more than a third of their payroll taxes in savings accounts they will own. These accounts will be guaranteed and managed by the federal government—not by a private investment firm. For both Social Security and Medicare, eligibility ages will gradually increase.

PRO-GROWTH TAX REFORM

To get the economy going again, the Roadmap offers the option of a simple, low-rate, two-tier personal income tax, eliminating loopholes and the double taxation of savings and investment. Corporate income taxes will be replaced by a simple 8.5 percent business consumption tax...

One frequent charge against these reforms is, however, correct: the Roadmap does shift power to individuals at the expense of government control. It rejects the merits and sustainability of a cradle-to-grave welfare state, which drains individuals of their self-reliance. The plan unapologetically applies our nation's founding principles—individual liberty, limited government, and free enterprise—to the challenges of today. And the Roadmap does this in a way that honors our historic commitment to strengthening the social safety net for those who need it most.

... Don't patronize the American people as if they were children—deferring difficult decisions and promising fiscal fantasies. Tell the American people the truth and offer them a choice, and they will do what's right.

Do you think the good Senator will be heard? I doubt it... for it seems that the main desire of this administration is to exert control over the people (for our own good of course)... not empower the people with liberty.

Consider and ponder.

Monday, February 22nd. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

"A bird had no interest in learning the song its master wanted to teach it while its cage was full of light. The bird's master covered the cage to darken it. He then whistled the same song over and over until the bird learned the tune by heart. When it could repeat the melody note for note, the owner uncovered the cage and the bird sang the tune beautifully."

This act is an illustration of the way God sometimes deals with us. He darkens the cage of our lives in order to teach us some divine music.

Just thinking of the example kind of makes me wonder what we would have learned had been willing to endure the trial God had given us, instead of trying to avoid the experience. How sweet could the song be He is trying to teach us?

The Apostle Paul writes this advice:
“Be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
(Ephesians 5:18-20)
"God, let me learn the melodies, the songs, and choruses You intend for me.
Amen."

Sunday, February 21th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

Every mechanical clock has to be wound at some point. Some are wound daily, some are wound weekly. If these clocks are not wound at the proper time their weights will pull all the way to the bottom. Without time set aside for prayer, praise and meditation our hearts will likewise so far descend through the weight of the cares of the world, that our course in godliness should be hindered and stopped.

The writer of the 28th Psalm verse 7 shares this with us,
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”

"God, let me draw strength from you daily.
Amen."

Rick has found a VERY useful review of the founding thoughts/inaccuracies of the "emergent church."

This needs to be studied carefully to really understand what is taking place in so much of the "emergent church" movement... as well as the reinventing/remaking/dismantling of genuine historic Christianity.

Take a close look.

Brutally Honest

Brian McLaren unplugged

In McLarenism there is no original sin, no wrath, no hell, no creation-fall-redemption, no definite future, no second coming that I can see, no clear statement on the deity of Christ, no mention of vicarious substitution or God’s holiness or divine sovereignty, no ethical demands except as they relate to being kind to others, no Godoffendedness, no doctrine of justification, no unchanging apostolic deposit of truth, no absolute submission to the word of God, nary a mention of faith and worship, no doctrine of regeneration, no evangelistic impulse to save the lost, and nothing about God’s passion for his glory. This is surely a lot to leave out.

McLaren’s Christianity is not new and certainly not improved. I don’t believe you can even call it Christianity. It is liberalism dressed up for the 21st century. We can only hope this wave of liberalism fades as dramatically as did the last....

Thanks Rick for the find... and thanks Kevin for the work on giving our concerns some solid feet.

Saturday, February 20th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A young man applying for a job as usher in a theater was asked by the owner, “In case of fire, what would you do?” “Oh, don’t be concerned about me,” the young man replied. “I’d be able to escape immediately.” He did not even think of his responsibility toward others. Of course, he didn’t get the job.

This response typifies the attitude displayed by the most of the world today. Jesus speaking to His disciples gave them this advice in Matthew 9:35:
“If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.”

"God, let me see others with Your eyes.
Amen."

The Chaplain's Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

Today I want to give my Christian brothers and sisters 4 important words that start with the letter “P”; are you paying attention? Priority, Partner, Possible and Process. Let me repeat them again, Priority, Partner, Possible and Process.

OK, now here’s the verse that they come from, “…So work with fear and trembling to discover what it really means to be saved. God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.” (Philippians 2:12-13 CEV)

First word, Priority - have you made living for the Lord a priority in your life? Is it really important to you, or do you have other things that push Jesus to the back?

The second word is Partner. You know you cannot do it on your own – and you cannot do it your own way. He has to be your partner, your senior Partner.

Third word, Possible. Yes it is possible to live a life that is pleasing to God, the Bible says so. But, it will have to be a Priority, and you’ll have to let Him be the senior Partner. But it is possible.

And lastly, always remember that it is a Process. Sometimes we forget that, and we get discouraged when we fall down. Learning to walk with the Lord is a lifelong Process. Listen, turning you into a godly person will not happen overnight, but it can happen!

So remember: Priority, Partner, Possible and Process.

UHHHHH OHHHHH... now we are finally getting serious in Afghanistan... we actually dropped 24 Marines behind enemy lines to take on the Taliban...

Don't you love this... 24 Marines to strike terror in the heart of the terrorists!

24 Marines = Shock and Awe!

Yahoo News report
US Marines airdropped into Taliban-held territory

MARJAH, Afghanistan – Elite Marine recon teams were dropped behind Taliban lines by helicopter Friday as the U.S.-led force escalated operations to break resistance in the besieged insurgent stronghold of Marjah.

As the major NATO offensive entered its seventh day, about two dozen Marines were inserted before dawn into an area where skilled Taliban marksmen are known to operate, an officer said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of security concerns.....

Black, 26-year-old, Republican Princella Smith to run for Congress in Arkansas’s 1st District

Princella Smith, 26, will announce on Saturday that she is running for Congress in Arkansas’s 1st District. Some would say she is too young. Others might point to other potential hurdles: She’s running in eastern Arkansas, a district that hasn’t elected a Republican since 1872 in a Southern state that has never elected a black person to a congressional or state-wide office....

Now... I don't know Ms. Smith, and don't endorse candidates... but if you read the article you will see that she is no fly-by-night dreamer... she's been working her convictions.

Our Federal Park system is going to once again allow the right of law abiding Americans to carry their lawful weapons in our national parks starting this coming Monday.

Of course there are those who are crying "foul" saying this is going to jeopardize the pristine tranquility of our national parks... when in actuality it will help to restore the pristine tranquility of our parks by making thugs think twice before they assault... plunder... and rape... our tranquil loving citizens... as the report points out the numbers of assaults and rapes on our parks lands...

Washington Post article
Federal government to lift restrictions on guns in national parks

The federal government will lift long-standing restrictions on guns in national parks Monday, meaning that visitors with proper permits could pack heat along with camping and picnic gear to most of the 392 parks. The move concerns current and former employees of the National Park Service who are convinced that the move will damage the spirit of the nation's park system.

Depending on state gun laws, visitors will be able to carry concealed and loaded guns into parks, the Park Service said....

.... National parks hosted about 275 million visitors in 2008, the agency said. There were 3,760 reported major crimes, including five homicides and 37 rapes....
This is a welcomed movement toward the reestablishment of the constitutional right of law abiding Americans to carry fire arms.

In this administrations never ending efforts to subject the American people to pay out the nose for the scam of "global warming" to benefit a few economic carpet baggers of the "green" variety... comes this up and coming effort to legislate "Cap and Trade" under a new name and deception.

Cap and Dividend page
Senate Offers Some Hope for Legislation to Combat Climate Change

....Is there no alternative between simple do-nothingism and House complexity? In fact, there is. An alternative proposal increasingly capturing interest on Capitol Hill is the CLEAR Act, sponsored by Sens. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine). The bill would cap the amount of carbon the United States produces and sell pollution permits to those who produce or import dirty fuels. Suppliers would pass these costs to customers, , which would discourage carbon-guzzling. It would also raise costs, of course, but the government would rebate 75 percent of the revenue from the permit auctions back to the populace.

Ms. Cantwell and Ms. Collins estimate that 80 percent of Americans would break even or come out ahead, even as consumption patterns shifted toward greener goods and greater energy efficiency. Congress would use the rest of the money to pay for some of the things in that energy bill, things that merely raising the price of carbon might not accomplish -- investing in transmission infrastructure, for example, or basic research and development. There is a risk that lawmakers will waste some of this cash, but it's a defensible one.....

And... don't you just love that last admission that "lawmakers" would "waste" some of the cash raised by this scheme... yet it is defensible?

Amazing admission... yet there it is for all to see folks.

Oh... and of course they include the obligatory terrorizing of children in their perverted effort... just watch their video from their home page.

Amazing.

Elton must be needing some cheap publicity.

This old song-and-dance routine has been played so many times... you'd thing that someone as truly creative and talented as Elton could come up with something a little more original?

Showbiz "Bizarre" story
JESUS was GAY - according to the gospel of SIR ELTON JOHN.

The singer makes his controversial claim about the Lord in a new US interview that will enrage America's bible belt.

Elton, 62, declares as he pours out his heart to a magazine: "I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems."

He adds: "Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East - you're as good as dead."

He goes on in the same interview to describe how he and DAVID FURNISH, 47 - now his "husband" - first got together.

The pop veteran tells Parade magazine: "I was attracted to David immediately. He was very well dressed, very shy. The next night we had dinner.

"After it, we fell in love very quickly."

He said of previous lovers: "I'd always choose someone younger. I wanted to smother them with love. I'd take them around the world, try to educate them.

"One after another they got a Cartier watch, a Versace outfit, maybe a sports car.

"They didn't have jobs. They were reliant on me.

"In six months they were bored and hated my guts because I'd taken their lives and self-worth away. I hadn't intended to."

And... what a truly sad conclusion to this story.

I've decided to pray for Elton today... seriously.

At least he believes in Jesus.... it's a start.

Father... touch this man's heart today with your love and majesty.

Friday, February 19th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field.

The Lord finds faith in a Roman soldier. He finds faith in heathen women. He finds lost womanhood in the Samaritan woman at the well. He seeks and finds generosity in that tight person called Zacchaeus. He seeks and finds courage in Peter, that coward who wouldn’t reveal even to a little maid who he was while Jesus was being tried. The Lord seeks and finds an apostle in a persecutor like Saul of Tarsus and makes him Paul.

Every day we work with and around people whose values may be hidden from us. I, for one, am glad for my parents and the teachers who invested in me and took the time to help refine and discover the value God knew was there all time. The writer of Psalms 139:14 tells us:
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

"God, help me to see and develop the value You have placed in the people I meet today.
Amen."

Remember the insidious "Values Clarification?" that was shoved down our children's throats?

Take a long hard look at the video and the following commentary by The Borg Conspiracy... and buckle your seat belts for a bumpy ride of indignation at the manipulation... and resolve to stand against the surge of evil that has been set against our children... our culture... our country... our freedom.
Under Seige: The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America

Charlotte Iserbyt. As a teacher and educator, she was trained to identify "the resistors." In this nine minute interview, watch and observe, as she describes the methodology and the master plan for destroying not only the American education process, but also how the methodology was and continues to be implemented to destroy our heritage, our faith and history.

Blooms Taxonomy: Listen as she explains precisely how Bloom's Taxonomy of Learning Domains are utilized and have been utilized to dumb down and destroy all cognitive reasoning and resistance to the secular humanist and egalitarian multicultural take over of America.

According to Ms.Iserbyt's repeated exposure and training in Bloom's philosophy, "The purpose of education, is to change the thoughts, actions and feelings of students."

Bloom's Taxonomy further states: "Good teaching is challenging the student's fixed beliefs."

And according to Ms. Iserbyt, Bloom openly bragged in his text on behavioral modification, that "he can take a student believing in God and his country, to being an Atheist and not believing in his country in an hour."

And these are the very people that we have allowed to infect our children for two generations now. The radical revolutionaries pf the 1960's like William Ayers. And as an example....how is William Ayers looked upon today.
"is an American elementary education theorist and a former leader in the movement that opposed U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. He is known for his 1960's activism as well as his current work in education reform, curriculum, and instruction. In 1969 he co-founded the Weather Underground, a self-described communist revolutionary" Wikipedia reference

And this woman has seen it done in practical application and she has been witness to it for decades. As both a teacher and an administrator of a system that has been designed to infiltrate and destroy the values, virtue and morality of America.

Iserbyt further explains: "Common Unity...common unity, that's what they call it, it has no room for the individual."

One of the most eye opening and interesting nine minutes of real education that you will soon spend. Are you smarter than a fifth grader? After seeing and hearing what this woman has to say and after grasping the methodology that she is revealing, perhaps you will understand why America is failing miserably and our children are becoming a society of assimilated zombies. Perhaps you will understand why we have raised two generations of those who replicate an regurgitate the thoughts that they are told is approved thinking.

What this woman describes is nothing less than the systematic propagandizing and subversion of America on a systemic level. And this infiltration has been underway in America for generations. Is there any wonder why our children of the past two generations have grown up hating their country? Is it any wonder why apologists and global charismatics like Barack Obama have succeeded in duping the masses in America?

Those of us in the wilderness who have been trying to sound the warning know all too well the applications and methodologies of those that seek to destroy this nation. Beginning with the application of Hitler's "Big Lie" principal, and proceeding forth through the practical applications of methodology via the practiced mechanisms pf Bloom's taxonomy and the teachings of Saul Alinsky (the 12 rules for radicals) and the other well known radical Marxist of the twentieth century.

Consider and ponder.

Thursday, February 18th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A London newspaper offered a prize for the best definition of money. The award was granted to a young man whose definition was “Money is an article which may be used as a universal passport to everywhere except heaven and as a universal provider of everything except happiness.”

That is the truth. Money won’t get you to heaven, but it will indicate where your heart is headed. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:21,
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

"God, let my heart be turned to You in all things.
Amen."

Wednesday, February 17th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

When Sammy Morris, a Kru boy from Africa, came to America to be trained for Christian service, he presented himself for matriculation at Taylor University. He revealed a spirit all too rare among Christians. When the President of the University asked him what room he wanted, Sammy replied, “If there is a room nobody wants, give that to me.”

Of this incident the President later wrote,“I turned away, for my eyes were full of tears. I was asking myself whether I was willing to take what nobody else wanted. In my experience as a teacher, I have had occasion to assign rooms to more than a thousand students. Most of them were noble, Christian young ladies and gentlemen; but Sammy Morris was the only one of them who ever said, ‘If there is a room that nobody wants, give that to me.’”

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 20:26-28:
“Whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”
May we adopt the same mindset?

"God, let me be willing to be less that others might see You.
Amen."

You are Awesome God.

Tennessee State Board of Education has approved the study of the Bible as actually being a part of history.

The reality is that hiding the reality of the Bible in the history of America... shucks... the Western World for that matter... is an affront to true education.

fox news report
New Guidelines for Teaching Bible in Public Schools
by Jonathan Serrie

As with many controversial issues, teaching about the Bible in public schools has been a political pendulum — swinging from a time when teaching Christian theology was not only accepted, but expected — to a time when the Bible was virtually banned from the classroom.

Now, the Tennessee Board of Education has adopted a new set of guidelines for public schools wanting to teach about the Bible and its influence on law, literature and history. The policy is a middle of the road approach that seeks common ground for both church/state separationists and advocates for Biblical literacy.

This is a very welcomed development and it should prove to be fun watching it play out in the days ahead.

Of course, the MSM is being as quite about this as possible... but in a few days watch for the weeping and wailing to begin... will probably start with Keith Olbermann. (But shucks... to get to watch Keith have a melt down over this would be quite a delight!)

Administrations around the world are evidently starting to not just attempt to do away with the word "terrorism" aka "human caused tragedy"... but it is now becoming evident that they are trying to cover up acts of terrorism themselves... and present them as accidents... or in this case... "pilot error."
(The above photo is a picture of bodies being recovered from the crashed Ethiopian Airliner)
debka file
Ethiopian Airline crash off Beirut was an act of Al-Qaeda terror

Evidence has reached debkafile's counter-terror sources that the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737-800 which crashed after takeoff from Beirut on January 25, killing all 92 aboard, was blown up in mid-air.

This was an al-Qaeda operation timed for one month to the day after its failed attempt to destroy an American Northwest airliner bound for Detroit. It is becoming clear that either a bomb was planted on the Ethiopian flight with a timer or a passenger acted as suicide bomber.

Western security agencies in the Middle East involved in combating al Qaeda believe that its planners picked on the Ethiopian flight for more than one reason apart from the date: They had been tipped off that a group of French undercover agents, including Maria Sanchez Pietton, wife of the French ambassador to Beirut, and top Hizballah operatives, including secretary general Hassan Nasrallah, would be aboard.
Mme Pietton lost her life in the crash, while the Hizballah travelers were saved by switching to another flight at the last minute.

The first bodies recovered from the Mediterranean off the Lebanese town of Naama showed all the hallmarks of explosion victims: They were found strapped to their seats with their heads, hands and feet blown off and scattered, typical effects of an explosive blast. Eye-witnesses at the time heard a loud explosion and saw the plane enveloped in a ball of fire as it gained altitude after takeoff from Beirut international airport....

Lebanese officials, led by prime minister Saad Hariri, have spent two weeks trying to hide the fact that the Ethiopian airline disaster was caused by terror....

More confirmation of a terrorist hand behind the attack is found in the deep involvement of US intelligence, including the FBI, in the investigation of the disaster from the first moment. The US survey ship Ocean Alert was dispatched to the area of the crash and dropped a miniature submarine into the depths to retrieve fragments of the airliner from the seabed. A US intelligence and naval headquarters was set up at Beirut harbor to coordinate the salvage of the plane from the sea. Treating the crash as terror-related, Washington ordered the plane to be reconstructed from recovered fragments to establish the site of the explosion and its cause.

US officials are also shy of discussing the case in public and admitting the crash was caused by an act of terror. It took place on January 25, shortly after President Barack Obama said “Al-Qaeda has been weakened." In an address to the American people to calm their anxieties after the Nigerian would-be bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab had failed to detonate explosives carried in his underwear.
Al Qaeda's success in blowing a civilian airliner out of the sky over the Middle East proved the opposite. It therefore became the subject of a comprehensive cover-up, joined by France. Before the black box, recovered Tuesday, had even been examined, French sources announced that human error by the pilot was the cause of the Ethiopian airliner crash....

xtnyoda would think it pretty sad for governments to become more concerned about "saving face" as opposed to saving people.

The truth will come out.

Indiana Senator Evan Bayh speaks to the American people telling us to vote all "...incumbents out en masse!"

This statement by Senator Bayh as he remarks about his leaving the Senate and national politics with a belly full.

Disillusioned Bayh advocates electoral “shock” to broken system

In an interview on MSNBC this morning, newly retiring Sen. Evan Bayh declared the American political system "dysfunctional," riddled with "brain-dead partisanship" and permanent campaigning. Flatly denying any possibility that he'd seek the presidency or any other higher office, Bayh argued that the American people needed to deliver a "shock" to Congress by voting incumbents out en masse and replacing them with people interested in reforming the process and governing for the good of the people, rather than deep-pocketed special-interest groups....

Senator... xtnyoda seconds your motion.

We should start a movement to replace every elected official in the next elections... 2010, 2012, 2014...

Tuesday, February 16th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A dad was down in the cellar of his shop when he noticed his small son standing at the edge of the open trap door. He called up, “Here I am, Sonny. Jump down.” But the boy hesitated. “I can’t, Daddy; I can’t see you.” Up came the answer, “No, but I can see you; trust me and jump, and I will catch you.” At this point, the boy jumped because he trusted his father.

We stand on the brink of a week ahead where we cannot see what is beyond the present; however, because we trust our heavenly Father, we can go forward into the challenges before us knowing He is with us all the way. The writer of Matthew 28:20 assures us with these words of Jesus: “ Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

"God, into Your arms I place my trust.
Amen."

The Desert Rat has spoken to the looming trade deficit, the "green" god mania, and energy dependence/slavery to those who really don't like us very much...

... but... I shall let the Rat speak...

The U.S. Trade deficit jumped to $40.2 billion in December 2009.

Why? Because petroleum imports have accounted for OVER HALF our trade deficit since the last quarter of 2007, and the prices jumped last October. We're not running behind just because of "made in China " labels. We're running behind because we won't responsibly use the resources we have right here on our own sovereign territory.

And the people from whom we buy oil aren't our friends.

Sad, and horrifying. Can you imagine the security and economic boost it would be if we started building refineries and/or nuclear plants? Crap, let's build solar panel and wind turbine farms, too - I love the environment. But what in the world are we doing to ourselves by relying on Chavez and the Arabian royal family? Over half the trade deficit is oil? Did you hear me? Why isn’t T. Boone Pickens (not to mention Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, or whoever else) screaming his rich head off about this?

I am a reasonable environmentalist.

I love our National Parks, National Forests, and National Wildernesses. I think 10-20% of the land in every state should be National Wilderness (no roads or motorized vehicles allowed). I think polluters should be held accountable and punished severely. I’m all for a forward-looking exploration of new energy-providing technologies. But what good are these sentiments when we have a trade deficit that means we’re sending more money across the borders than what we bring into the country? It’s horrifying enough that foreign states own so much of our exponentially-growing debt, and therefore are our masters. But we’re not doing the most basic and beneficial thing to look toward a turn-around!

Oh, and a comment to the non-rational earth-worshiper: this cactus-hugger’s taking the term “environmentalist” back.

It doesn’t belong to you, so I’ve got a personal goal of stealing your god and putting it back in its correct place, protected, nurtured, yet dominated place. And another thing: do you think the Middle Eastern countries and the likes of Venezuela are going to be more nature-minded in their petroleum exploration, extraction, and processing? Do you think they care about your earth-god’s cleanliness? Seriously? If anyone is to provide responsibly-extracted petroleum product, it’s the most advanced and morally-sensitive nation on the planet: us. Think of the example we could be to the world in safe and responsible extraction and refining processes. OR we can whore ourselves out to a people that are already laughing at our weakness and enslavement to them.

The next time you fill up, remember. We’re not destroying the environment for that tank of gas: people who hate us are.

And they’ve enslaved us to bankroll that destruction. The next time you get concerned about what “made in China” labels and lost overseas jobs are doing to us, remember that we have huge, wealth-glutted potential jobs sitting under our feet, but we’d rather rely on people content to see our Secretary of State begging them for better prices (I won’t even mention a President that bows to them).

Well, a rare political note from the desert rat.

I’m going to go skulk back into my remote arid canyon and hope you big-city people will wake up and realize what weak, defenseless slaves in denial we’ve become in the name of “green.”

A very respected friend posts a most powerful rendition about some earlier mistakes... memories... and deep personal reflections.

Worthy of a full read... and solemn contemplation.

Tim at Brutally Honest

30 Years Gone…Holding On.

Guest posted by tim aka The Godless Heathen.

It was early 1979, my girlfriend, Mary, and three or four of her girlfriends were to skip a few classes and then come back to school. There would be no parent's permission slips or hall passes, no one was to know except those involved. Incredibly, to my knowledge the secret stayed just that as I never heard a peep otherwise. Still till this day I’ve never told anyone.

While the others tagged along for support it was Mary and another girl who were the unfortunate ones who needed to go. They had made the gut wrenching decision that a girl of 16 years old should not have to make.

I went about my routine as usual, the magnitude of the situation and of what Mary was going through barely registering in my adolescent, self centered, jock/stoner mind.

I caught up to her later that day. Her normal bubbly personality of the cheerleader she was and the big, always present smile were gone, replaced by obvious sadness and watery eyes which soon turned to tears, streaming down her beautiful, quintessentially Irish face.

We made our way to a corner of the noisy lunchroom, away from everyone else and alone, in more ways than one, her much more so than me. She began telling me the excruciating details of what she had been through. In the infinite wisdom of a boy, I told her to stop, I didn’t want to hear it anymore. She, the strong, spitfire quickly shot back “No! You’re gonn’a listen and you gonn’a hear it all!” She was right, I knew she was right and I listened whether I wanted to or not.

The story was told, the tears flowed, we hugged, kissed and vowed our love for each other. Our problem was over, everything seemingly better and we went back to our day of high school. She obviously had much more to deal with emotionally and physically than me.

As I recall we never talked about it much, if at all, ever again. We stayed together for another six months or so but still got together spontaneously a handful of times after that as if we didn’t know how to stay away from each other. She even showed up a couple years later to send me off when I was about to go live a couple thousand miles away. Her boyfriend’s car horn in front of my parent’s house interrupting our long kiss goodbye.

I would see Mary briefly again a few years later when I came back to town for a week just after getting out of the Marine Corps, running into her on St. Patty’s day in an absolutely packed Irish bar. While I don’t believe in fate, I opened the bar door and she was standing right in front of me with her big, light up the room smile, kissing me on the cheek, telling me I looked great and that she was so glad to see me. We had lunch the next day, spent the afternoon together catching up. She was about to become a state trooper, all 5’3 of sweetness and kick ass. She called me the next day to invite me to a little family get together but I didn’t want to impose. I regret not going. Not the only thing I regret in that relationship.

He (in my mind's eye is never a girl for some strange reason) would be around 30 yrs. old now, handsome and athletic like his father and smart as hell like his mother.

Gone, not forgotten.

Thank you Tim... thank you.
